Why Song Seung Hun couldn’t come to the first meeting of the drama East of Eden’s crew?
On the night of June 11th, the crew of East of Eden had their first meeting. All the main casts were there except Song Seung Hun. His absence disappoints many people.
According to what the organizers reveal, “Some hours before that, Song Seung Hun had a piece of pizza and was choked; he couldn’t swallow or spit out. As a consequence, he couldn’t make it to the event.”
The manager also adds, "This night is actually a suggestion from Song Seung Hun, who also took part in its preparation. He was so energized to see Yoon Jung Hoon since it’s pretty preordained for both of them (Yoon replaced Song in the drama Sad Love Song). He felt that it’s a pity not being able to join the meeting all due to that out-of-control incident."
East of Eden will be brought to Korean audience in this August. Since the series consists of prominent stars, there’s exceptional attention coming from Asian viewers. The drama is now being marketed in Japan with the price of 5 billion wons.
The main casts volunteer to lower salary
East of Eden makes appearance of the five infamous icons: Song Seung Hun, Yeon Jung Hoon, Lee Da Hae, Lee Yeon Hee, and Han Ji Hye. As a result, when dealing with these stars’ salary, the producing company has to spend a huge amount of funding.
However, the main casts decrease their own fee voluntarily. Manager of the company making East of Eden responds, “The main artists such as Song Seung Hun, Yeon Jung Hoon, etc. volunteer to bring down their wage to at least 30%. This issue greatly helps production of East of Eden, and improves its quality.”
The main actor Yeon Jung Hoon also affirms, “This is a decision for the whole series. Being and playing a role in such significant project are a hard-to-find opportunity for us. To an artist, creating a good piece of art is more important than earning the salary.”
